No Pants Day 2009! January 10th!

Join Plan B MN on January 10th, 2009 for the Light Rail No Pants Day! That's right! NO PANTS!

All are invited to participate in the 8th Annual No Pants! Subway Ride. The event will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10. Everything you need to know is in this post. Please read it carefully!

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION:

1) Willing to take pants off on light rail
2) Able to keep a straight face about it

**THIS IS A PARTICIPATORY EVENT. DO NOT SHOW UP UNLESS YOU PLAN TO TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF.**

DETAILS

When: Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 PM, Sharp! (Over by around 4:30)
Where: Meet at Mall of America Light Rail stop in the station.
Bring: A backpack and a Light Rail ticket (Or purchase an event ticket)
Do not bring: A camera (we’ll have several photographers on hand)
Wear: Normal winter clothes (hat, gloves, etc)
Facebook: You can RSVP to the Facebook Event
After Party: We will be meeting in Ruby Tuesday's inside of the Mall of America after the ride back to the MOA Station.

Following in IE's Foot Steps, we will be celebrating No Pants 2k9 along with thousands of other people from around the world!

So, how did it go?

It went amazingly everyone stayed in charicter, and we got some amzing reactions, and great pictures and video. We even meet new people and hopefully they join us in the near future. I was taking video, Scott was taking pictures. Ill try to remember the names of the people who "disrobed" Chris, Mike, Blake (Whos outfit was amzing lol), Turtle, and another couple whos names escape me, but it was a REALLY fun way to spend a Saturday. After the event we all went to Ruby Tuesdays were we all talked and had fun and Dan meet up with us later. All in all im pretty happy with the turn out,but it would have been a blast with all of the people who confermed.

No Pants 2k9 went off without a hitch for Plan B.

Parking at the Mall of America was a nightmare, as the day was relatively nice and everyone was out and about.

I walked into the Transit Station at the Mall and purchased my event ticket, and then placed a phone call to Scott. I spoke loudly into the phone for the benefit of the crowd around me and said "I don't know if anyone else is here."

Immediately, two people waved at me and said "We are here!"

The plan was to meet at 2PM and then board the Light Rail. We would then ride all the way into Downtown Minneapolis, and back. The pants would come off before the first stop.

After we boarded the train, the plan changed "disrobing" before the third stop in line. We would then disembark from the train, and run to the next car and reboard.

This went off without a hitch. As the stop was announced, everyone stood up and dropped their pants. We got some interesting looks from the people around us. As soon as the train stopped, we moved from one car to the next, and proceeded to ignore each other, and read our books, sight see, or talk with strangers.

Noone approached me during the event, but several people looked at me and the others as if we were nuts.

The best reaction I got was a woman in a parka as she boarded the train. She sat down, lowered the zipper on her parka and lowered her hood, before looking up and noticing us. She immediately put her hood back up and rezipped her jacket. She rode the rail the rest of the way like that.


After we got back to the Mall of America, we went into the Transit station, and put our pants back on. We then went into the mall and sat at Ruby Tuesday's while we talked about the event, and planned for the 1 year Plan B Anniversary Event...

We had a lot of fun, I hit on the waitress of course, and she played along wonderfully.
All in all, we had a great time, and the Youtube video will be posted shortly.

Ok, I so was taking pictures for this event... Not too easy I might add... I get to the mall and have to park on the roof of the garage.... LOTS OF PEOPLE there, But that didn't stop me from getting to the station. I got there with Chris waiting for me along with another two people I did not recognize, I was thrilled at this. Some new faces to the group!!!

We waited around, and sure enough Mike, That fun little Oompa Loompa showed up with 3 of his friends. Steve showed shortly after. We wait around and talked and hoped for more people. We then proceeded to the train. Got on and waited along time for the driver to get back. We were all talking and I think everyone was alittle nervous as we just got word form our "Spy"(Zach) in the target train, that the Metro Transit Police were on that train... We still said we were going to go for it... So we get to our planned stop and run up to the next car. I went in the first available door and every one else went to whichever door they could get too. Most went right into the door that the cops were at... I thought "Oh no, thats it this event is over, they are getting kicked off..." Nope!!! The cops smiled and laughed alittle and just ignored them... As they should, it was totally legal to be on there.

I went to the back of the car to meet with Zach. Chris took the seat across from me and started a conversation with the guy Chris, "It's cold out there!" (Mind you he is pant less now)
Guy, "Yeah, it's supposed to get colder later this week"

I cracked up at that...

Me and Zach wandered the train and took pictures, chatted with some agents, and just looked for shots.

I heard reactions like "I think its one of those polar bear things" (Like the polar bear swim)
and, "I would stay off the train, I think those guys got mugged for their pants!"

I loved this event, and I can't wait till next year!!

I hope you enjoy the video... It was giving me TONS of trouble...(next time I shouldn't hurry to be the first group up!) I am getting a new camera and new editing software in the near future, so that should help...

Okay so this was crazy fun.
I woke up late and missed my bus to the mall. I then proceeded to run about looking for a ride. Not being able to find one I resolved to take a cab. I got to the meet up spot last. The mall was packed they had this highschool and college dance tournament going on.

I was in a bit of a rush and I forgot to grab a backpack so Chris stored my pants in his. Some of the people had some fancy boxers for the occasion. I just had my polka dots.

We got on, detroued at the planned stop then hurried to the next cart. When we were all taking our pants off the car came alive with people wondering what was going on.

I got on the cart in the section with the transit police. They all smiled about it. So as to keep character I texted people. The funniest reaction I got was from my friend Erica. " Her: "Are people staring?" Me: "Yup"

My first reaction came from two ladies in the back of the car. They ask why everyone wasn't wearing shorts. For that I played stupid and just went "oh! i guess I'm not" The asked again and were curious asking the guy behind them who was equally puzzled.

I got off the train right at the next stop and then went back to the starting cart for the rest of it. It was kinda empty and I didn't get any reactions. I reboarded the cart with everyone else at the warehouse district.
We all talked and laughed about the trip thus far and then got back into character again once we started moving.

On the return trip many people had double takes as the train went by and they saw us within not wearing pants.

At one stop three guys were waiting for the train and as it pulled up they looked in saw me and then broke out laughing. They got on the train and started having a conversation with Mike (AKA Oompa Loompa). He called over Turtle and after Mike left I think they started hitting on her.

We pulled into the second ariport terminal and again i switched cars. This time i got a reaction from everyone on board. The entire car was shocked as i boarded. This old lady behind me in a bonnet comment, "You must be freezing" me "no its not too bad. It was sunny this morning so i figured it would be warm" her "where you coming from?" Me "burnsville" "oh i thought you were from Hawaii or something" me "oh! you meant state, I was born in Texas" (I was born and raised in minneapolis I didnt speak to her with an accent at all) She bought it. the her "so how long will you go without pants?" me "just till i get to the mall" Her "youre going to walk around the mall without pants?" me "Oh i think it will be fine"

As we got to the mall i went to the main car and walked with everyone else into the transit center where we went into the bathroom and put our pants back on.

When we got to Ruby Tuesdays we all shared appetizers and had a grand old time crammed in one booth that was much to small for the 8 of us. When Dan got there we pulled a prank for the sake of our style and ignored him. Pretending he wasn't there. The show was up when it came for Mike to call him during this and he couldnt keep a straight face.

This was a great event. I cant wait till next years. The anniversary plan will be interesting as well. Hopefully i can make it. My favorite memory of this will be Blake in his parka, whitey tighteys, and floppy ear hat.

Well, this is Turtle, the only girl to depants for the entire ride. I was the one wearing the awesome superhero boxers (I went out and got then for this event specifically).

The day started off fairly well, a little weird because Mike, Zaika (Blake), Panda (The other girl) and I were out at a friend's house watching movies until 2 in the morning the night before. And of course I'm uber paranoid about being to things on time so I told everyone I'd be out there to pick them up early.

I think I picked a little too early, I had gotten Zaika from Saint Paul by 11:30 and I had picked up Mike and Panda by noon or so, so we had a good two hours to wander around the mall before the event. So we did wander around the mall, watched the Dance Team competition for a while, but mainly spent about a half hour-fourty five minutes playing catch on the first floor with a really cool ball that Panda bought at Air Traffic.

So we headed out to the station at around 1:45 and made it there in good time, which was nice, because it would kinda suck to be late to one of these events. So we got our tickets for the rail and I looked around for the group, I overheard someone say something about how there might not be enough people and I assumed they were the right people for the festivities.

So it was pretty fun, I was a little worried because the train didn't have a lot of people in it at first, only a couple and an older woman who looked completely scandalized when we dropped our pants. I thought Zaika did the best job, poor baby didn't even plan on doing it, but I loved his logic. "I'll look stupid if I don't" XD

So for the most part, I sat next to Panda watching videos on her PsP, but then I decided to wander around. The first reaction I got was from this older Indian looking lady hauling this huge suitcase, she lumbered it in, barely hefting it around. I asked her if she wanted help with it (it was almost as big as she was and looked HEAVY) she said something that sounded like yes and nodded furiously, but then she turned around and saw me, did a little stare then bustled away as fast as she could.

Then it was a little lull, Mike called me over to chat with these two guys he was talking with. He gave his excuse for not having pants, a really good one too, he then asked me for mine. I said I got up really late and didn't have time for pants. That got a few chuckles. We chatted with the boys for a while, Mike then decided to go to a different area and I wandered back over to Panda, but I decided to walk back to the boys and they started hitting on me. o.O

An older gentleman seemed to be on vacation from another country, he had a really thick accent and just kept giving me these looks like I was out of my mind, I just smiled politely and he stopped looking at me.

A group of teens got on the train and sat in the seats next to mine, none of them noticed me at first, but then one caught on and proceeded to slap her friends arms until they looked over. They huddled together and talked for a while, then the first girl called someone and I overheard her telling whoever it was not to take the train because it was full of crazies.

I also had a mother cover her small child's eyes (He looked about 5) and drag him to the seat farthest away from me, giving me scathing looks occasionally.

I think the funniest reaction I got was this little old asain lady who leaned over to ask me quietly "Why aren't you wearing pants?" I just told her it was all a dream, she nodded a little and leaned back into her seat before tapping me on the arm again asking, "Is this your dream or mine?"

I think the best reaction I saw was one from Zaika, he was just standing, looking normal and there was a guy at a station we were leaving who did a triple take when he saw Zaika and then dropped to the ground laughing.

Ruby Tuesdays was delicious, after my reaction to the chicken wings, which wasn't very cool. But the dumplings were some of the best I've had, seems a little pricey, 9 dollars for only five medium sized ones.

All in all, ton of fun, I'm coming back down from college to do this again next year for sure. And I do believe I've written WAY too much. SORRY!
